At Phi Labs, we are a software development team that grew out of the Tendermint ecosystem. We are the creators of the Archway protocol, a layer 1 blockchain built on Cosmos that rewards developers for their contributions. While our roots are in the Cosmos SDK and CosmWasm, we are currently expanding our reach into SUI, Solana, and EVM ecosystems. We are now focused on building out our new DeFi product, Bolt Liquidity, and we are looking for passionate engineers to help us shape the future of decentralized finance.
What is this role?
We are looking for three Senior Smart Contract Engineers to join us on a contract basis. This is a full-time, remote position that allows you to work from anywhere in the world. Because we operate as a highly distributed team, we rely on tools like Slack, Linear, and Notion to stay aligned. Please note that while we offer flexibility, our core team meetings typically take place between 6:30 am and 10:00 am Pacific Time, and we expect team members to be available during those hours.
What will you do?
- Design, develop, and maintain secure smart contracts for our DeFi product, Bolt Liquidity, across SUI, Solana, and EVM environments.
- Build end-to-end Rust applications that bridge the gap between complex protocol logic and the service layer.
- Collaborate with our engineering team to push the boundaries of web3 technology while maintaining high standards for code quality and documentation.
What makes you a great fit?
You are a self-starter who thrives in an autonomous environment and has a deep curiosity about the blockchain space. To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Proven experience designing and deploying smart contracts using Rust, Move, or Solidity, ideally within DeFi projects.
- Strong mastery of Rust, including async programming, performance tuning, and robust error handling.
- A solid understanding of DeFi primitives such as AMMs, lending protocols, and yield strategies.
- Proficiency with modern development tools including Docker, Protobuf, gRPC, and GitHub Actions.
- Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly document complex architectural designs.
What's in it for you?
We value our team members and strive to provide an environment where you can do your best work. Our benefits include:
- The opportunity to work in a fully remote environment with a diverse, international team.
- Participation in company retreats and off-sites held 2 to 3 times per year.
- A flexible work schedule that respects your need for balance.
- Generous paid time off to ensure you have time to rest and recharge.
- A 6-month contract-to-hire arrangement that includes a token allocation upon transition.
