Welcome to Zopa. We began our journey in 2005 as the world's first peer-to-peer lending company, and in 2020, we officially launched Zopa Bank. We are here to challenge the status quo of the financial industry by listening to what customers dislike about banking and doing the exact opposite. Our mission is to empower everyone to aim high and move finance forward. We are honored to be recognized as one of the top three most loved workplaces in the UK, and we owe that success to our diverse team of nearly 50 nationalities. If you are someone who enjoys unconventional challenges and wants to make a real impact, we would love for you to join us.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Security Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be a vital part of our Information Security team, tasked with securing our technology platform. You will work alongside our product and platform engineering teams to build secure infrastructure that allows our developers to move quickly and efficiently. This is an exciting opportunity to help protect our bank and our customers as we continue to scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of robust solutions that enhance the security of our cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring that security remains an intuitive and easy choice for our engineers.
- Define the technical direction of the team while mentoring colleagues to meet high standards, experiment with new ideas, and implement innovative security measures.
- Collaborate across departments, including product engineering and security operations, to solve complex technical problems and evaluate the value of new third-party or open-source tools.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in cloud infrastructure and a passion for security. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- Proven experience designing solutions using AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, Ansible, and secrets management tools like Vault.
- Familiarity with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Splunk.
- Proficiency in scripting or programming languages, specifically Python or Go.
- A strong commitment to quality throughout the software development lifecycle, including rigorous testing practices.
- Excellent communication skills and a desire to own the delivery of large-scale projects while working with various stakeholders.
Location
This position is based in the United Kingdom. We operate on a hybrid model, which requires you to work from our London office 2 to 3 days per week to support face-to-face collaboration.
Compensation and Benefits
We believe in maintaining a healthy work-life balance and offer flexible working arrangements to support your personal and professional needs. Our benefits include:
- A hybrid work environment that balances office collaboration with flexibility.
- The option to work from abroad for up to 120 days per year, provided you have the legal right to work in your chosen country.
- A supportive culture that values diversity and provides reasonable adjustments during the hiring process for those who need them.
