We are Shearer's, a prominent contract manufacturer and private label supplier serving the North American snack industry. From our headquarters in Massillon, Ohio, we operate 17 state-of-the-art facilities across the United States and Canada, including one of the industry's first LEED platinum-certified plants. We take pride in crafting high-quality snacks, ranging from kettle-cooked potato chips and tortilla chips to cookies and wafers. We are looking for a Senior R&D Food Technologist to join our team in a hybrid capacity, helping us drive innovation and excellence in our product development processes.
What you'll be doing
- You will lead the development of new salty snack flavors and seasonings by managing projects with external vendors to meet our productivity and sales goals.
- You will serve as a technical expert, partnering with cross-functional teams in manufacturing, procurement, and commercialization to optimize recipes, ingredients, and production processes.
- You will execute plant trials, conduct sensory evaluations, and perform data analysis to ensure our products maintain the highest quality standards while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
What you'll bring
To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong background in food science and a passion for product innovation. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in the food industry, specifically within consumer product development, new formulation design, or innovation platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, TraceGains, and nutritional labeling tools like Genesis.
- Experience working within a stage-gate development process and a solid understanding of regulatory and marketing packaging claims.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and travel up to 10% of the time to support our plants and suppliers.
- Fluency in English to effectively collaborate with our teams and partners.
