Senior Product Engineer at Plain

We are currently building a specialized support platform designed specifically for developer tools. You can think of our product as a combination of Linear and Stripe, but for the support space. We aim to provide a tool that is both delightful to use immediately and powerful enough for developers to build upon. We believe that support software is one of the most compelling areas to work in today, as it is inherently collaborative, handles high volumes of data, and presents unique technical challenges. Because every company with customers requires support, we are operating in a massive market. We are looking for a talented engineer to join our small, commercially minded team where everyone contributes to the codebase and engages directly with our users.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join us on a full-time basis. In this role, you will lead our backend efforts and help define the technical direction of our platform. You will be part of an intentionally small team that values transparency and product-centric thinking, focusing on building both a great tool and a sustainable company.

Key Responsibilities

• Architectural Leadership: You will tackle complex technical challenges and guide the team on how we build and prioritize our infrastructure.
• Product Strategy: You will collaborate with the entire team to influence our product roadmap, ensuring that our engineering decisions align with our business goals.
• Developer Experience: You will be responsible for creating a seamless experience for those building on top of our platform, including designing our APIs and refining our data models.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in backend engineering and a desire to work in a hands-on environment. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with TypeScript and serverless architectures. You should be excited about the autonomy of an early-stage company and possess a product-focused mindset, as you will be involved in decisions that go beyond just writing code. Proficiency in English is required for our collaborative, distributed environment.
