We are excited to invite you to join DataRemote at our Miami, Florida, office as a Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer. DataRemote is a leader in the telecommunications and IoT space, specializing in robust network routers and POTS line replacement solutions. We are looking for a visionary leader who can guide our firmware engineering team, manage complex development projects, and help us expand our market presence through high-quality, scalable embedded platform solutions.
What you'll be doing
- You will provide technical leadership to our firmware team, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability while coaching developers through the full software lifecycle.
- You will utilize Agile and Scaled Agile methodologies to deliver firmware releases that meet our market demands, ensuring our IoT and device cloud services remain industry-leading.
- You will collaborate closely with our VP of Product Development to define architectures, manage integration validation, and oversee the deployment processes for our custom hardware and Linux-based platforms.
What you'll bring
To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong background in software and firmware architecture, along with a proven track record of shipping products on time and within budget. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Technical Expertise: Extensive experience with the C programming language, Linux, and embedded architectures is essential. You should also be proficient in Python, web development, and networking concepts including TCP/UDP, VoIP, SIP, and VPN protocols like OpenVPN and PPTP.
- Security Knowledge: You should have a deep understanding of security protocols, including IPSec, AES encryption, SSL, and TLS.
- Leadership Skills: We value your ability to communicate technical tradeoffs, manage project priorities, and lead teams in the high-volume production of embedded devices.
- Education: A BSEE, BSCE, or equivalent experience is required, with an MSEE or MSCE preferred. You should also have at least 10 years of experience in a technology development environment.
- Communication: You must be able to articulate a clear vision, influence stakeholders, and work effectively with QA and production teams to resolve issues.
