Senior Platform Engineer (f/m/d)

• Starting date: As soon as possible

• Yearly Salary: €70,000 - €75,000 (fixed range, annual gross)

• Equity: €20,000 - €40,000 in company shares

• Benefits: Up to €5,000 annually

• Work model: Full-time, Hybrid (Munich) or Remote (Germany)

Your role

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will build and maintain a robust platform that drives efficient software delivery, leveraging state-of-the-art practices and tools.

In this role, you will directly impact Orbem’s core operations by enabling various teams, such as Data, Machine Learning, and Software, to perform at their best. You'll create a scalable and resilient infrastructure that facilitates their workflows while also maintaining Orbem’s complex production environment—a crucial element in solving some of the world's toughest challenges.

You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, pushing the boundaries of automation, security, and efficiency across the entire company.

Your day-to-day

Joining our Core department, you will take on the role of Senior Platform Engineer within the Platform Team. Your primary focus will be:

• Architect, build, and maintain our GCP infrastructure to support our fast-growing demands.

• Guarantee the accessibility of our Cloud services for both our clientele and Edge devices.

• Improve our existing observability platform to ensure high availability and performance of our platform.

• Leverage GitOps and CI/CD tools to accelerate, automate, and optimize our software development processes.

• Champion and improve the developer experience by building and maintaining development tools and self-service infrastructure.

• You'll be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our infrastructure, supporting development teams, and troubleshooting complex issues.

• You'll collaborate with various stakeholders, contribute to architectural decisions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance and reduce costs.

• This role requires a deep understanding of cloud computing principles, networking, security, and automation.

Technical Expertise

• You have a deep understanding of cloud technologies, with hands-on GCP cloud architecture experience. 

• Deep understanding of monitoring concepts and tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.

• Terraform is a native language to you.

• You have extensive Kubernetes knowledge.

• You work fluently in Linux-based systems.

• You are fluent in at least GoLang or Python. 

• Experience with Continuous Delivery best practices using GitLab CI/CD and GitOps tool (e.g., ArgoCD)

• Developer Experience (DevEx) Champion: Passionate about reducing developer friction and accelerating productivity. You don't just provide tools; you build streamlined "golden paths" and Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) that empower developers to ship code faster and more safely.

• Modern Kubernetes & CI/CD Architect: Moves beyond basic deployments to architecting sophisticated, automated, and resilient delivery pipelines using cutting-edge GitOps and Kubernetes-native tooling.

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Mastery: Expert-level proficiency with Terraform to build version-controlled, repeatable, and scalable cloud environments.

• Internal Developer Platform (IDP) Implementation: Proven experience designing and building self-service platforms that abstract infrastructure complexity away from developers.

• Docker & Container Best Practices: Deep understanding of creating minimal, hardened, and efficient container images using multi-stage builds and distroless bases to reduce attack surface.
