Bardel is currently looking for a Senior Pipeline TD to work collaboratively with our Emmy award winning studio team. Working closely with all Technology teams, this role is responsible for the successful creation of the company’s pipeline software tools, supporting Production in making technical decisions and general technical support throughout the production process.
What you’ll be doing:
- Developing stable, scalable and effective libraries, APIs, and tools for production pipeline.
- Work with artists, leads, and supervisors to implement solutions for production workflows with an emphasis on optimization.
- Collaborating with the pipeline team to map out and optimize project timelines to achieve goals.
- Follow the coding standards and procedures as outlined by the pipeline team.
- Documenting code from top to bottom by following the standards as outlined by the pipeline team.
- Research and Development of new software and techniques to recommend improvements to studio environment and workflows.
- Keep up to speed on current technology trends and tools both hardware and software.
- Aiding in all stages of production and pipeline software support.
- Mentoring and coaching team members.
What you’ll need:
- 3+ years of experience in VFX or Animation industry
- Understanding in building tools, scripts, and plugins with C++ and DCC APIs.
- Data science and database, APS experience with PostgresSQL, mysql, and containerized development standards.
- Extensive development experience in Python.
- Experience in developing libraries used by other TDs and software engineers.
- Experience working with PySide or PyQt.
- Experience with rez package development standards.
- A proven track record of successfully implementing and developing tools for Maya, Nuke, Shotgun, Deadline, Katana, Houdini, Renderman etc.
- Experience with functional/object-oriented programming with a good understanding of pitfalls and alternate approaches.
- Experience with at least one of the source control systems.
- Solid understanding of entire CG production process and the ability to manage projects to fit the production and technology environment.
- Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the varying production levels.
- Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view.
- Understanding of time constraints when dealing with complex productions and timelines and prioritizing strategies to achieve goals.
And for bonus points:
- Working knowledge with MEL.
- Experience with JSX, JavaScript, JQuery, Ajax, HTML and CSS.
- Working knowledge with Git.
- Working knowledge with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, etc.).
Salary Range: CAD $90,000 - $110,000 / year. The Salary Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.
Location: We are currently considering only candidates based in BC or Quebec who are legally able to work in Canada.
