Senior PHP Back-End Engineer at Locals

What you bring

We are looking for a Senior PHP Back-End Engineer to join us in a full-time capacity. You will play a critical role in our technical growth, working remotely while being available to travel domestically between 10 and 25 percent of the time. Your primary focus will be on the following areas:

• Designing and building robust infrastructure to support performance optimization, video scaling, and overall product improvements.
• Collaborating closely with our head of backend development and the wider engineering team to create resilient, responsive solutions that work across web, mobile, and TV platforms.
• Developing complex APIs and optimizing MySQL queries to handle big data processing and seamless third-party integrations.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have at least seven years of professional software engineering experience, specifically with PHP7, OOP, and MVC architectures. You should be a master of MySQL, capable of writing highly scalable code and architecting frameworks that handle high-volume data efficiently. We also look for deep familiarity with Laravel, Big Data environments, and the development of RESTful APIs. Because we operate as a cohesive team, you must be fluent in English and comfortable working within the Eastern Time Zone.
