We are looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer to join our team at Rocket.Chat, the world's largest open-source communications platform. Our technology empowers millions of users across 150 countries, including major organizations like the U.S. Navy and Credit Suisse, to collaborate securely while maintaining full data ownership. You will work remotely in a full-time capacity, helping us build and refine the mobile experience that keeps the world connected.

Responsibilities

Develop high-quality, scalable, and responsive features for our mobile applications.
Take full ownership of new features, guiding them from initial specification through to production release.
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, bugs, and technical issues.
Utilize native APIs to create deep integrations across both iOS and Android platforms.
Write efficient, reusable, and highly testable code.
Collaborate closely with product managers and fellow engineers to drive continuous software improvements.
Manage source code repositories using effective branching and merging strategies.
Contribute to our open-source community and maintain our public repositories.

Must-haves

Extensive professional experience building mobile applications with React Native and TypeScript.
Fluency in English.
Deep understanding of mobile UI/UX design principles and industry best practices.
Proven ability to diagnose and fix complex performance issues.
Strong grasp of native APIs and platform-specific integrations.
Expertise in Git and GitHub workflows for version control.
Experience writing clean, efficient, and testable code.

Nice-to-haves

Background in maintaining open-source projects.
Knowledge of additional programming languages or alternative mobile frameworks.
Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines and automated testing suites.
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
