At Upstream USA, we believe that contraceptive care is fundamental healthcare. Since our founding in 2014, we have partnered with healthcare organizations across the country to provide free training and technical assistance, ensuring patients can access the care they need where they already receive their medical services. We are a national nonprofit with a bold vision to reach 5 million patients by 2030. Because we operate without government or pharmaceutical funding, we rely on venture philanthropy to drive measurable impact and large-scale change. We are looking for mission-driven individuals to join our team as we continue to grow and transform the landscape of patient-centered care.
The role
We are seeking a Senior Manager of Strategy to join us in a full-time, hybrid capacity. This is a two-year, fixed-term position designed for a senior-level professional who will report directly to the Director of Strategy. You will be instrumental in shaping our organizational priorities by leading cross-functional projects, managing our innovation framework, and providing high-level analysis to our leadership team. This role is open to candidates located anywhere, though you must be prepared to travel up to 15% of the time for organizational retreats and team meetings.
Core responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of our multi-year strategic planning process, including conducting market analysis and developing clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
- Manage a structured innovation framework that sources, evaluates, and advances new ideas to help us scale our impact, ensuring diverse perspectives are integrated into our strategy.
- Provide end-to-end project management for special initiatives, ensuring that complex, cross-functional projects are delivered on time and aligned with our long-term organizational goals.
Skills and experience
- At least 6 to 7 years of professional experience in consulting, strategy, or the healthcare sector.
- Expert-level proficiency in financial and operational modeling using Excel or Google Sheets, with a proven ability to build audit-ready models from scratch.
- Demonstrated success in quantitative strategy development, specifically regarding Total Addressable Market (TAM) analysis and dynamic growth curve modeling.
- Experience in designing or supporting innovation processes, including governance and cross-functional coordination.
- Strong ability to synthesize complex data sets into clear narratives for executive stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication skills and a high level of organization, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English and comfort working in a remote, on-camera environment.
Compensation and benefits
The hiring range for this position is $140,000 to $145,000 USD. We offer a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees, which includes:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Life and disability insurance.
- 401k plan with a company match.
- Generous paid time off, including vacation, personal, sick, and holiday leave.
- Professional development opportunities.
- Support for remote and hybrid work environments.
