The role
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Engineering to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. This is a leadership position for an experienced manager who will own the end-to-end technology for our customer-facing applications. You will guide your team in building solutions for trainees, educators, and program administrators while fostering a culture of technical excellence and craftsmanship. This role requires a leader who can balance long-term architectural vision with the immediate needs of our product roadmap.
Core responsibilities
- Define and execute the multi-year technology vision for your application team while presenting roadmaps to executive leadership.
- Cultivate a high-performance, delivery-oriented culture that maintains rigorous standards for technical quality and operational excellence.
- Lead the full lifecycle of talent management, including hiring, coaching, and mentoring engineers ranging from entry-level to Staff level.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong background in engineering management and a passion for building scalable systems. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate the following:
- At least 3 years of experience in engineering management, specifically leading teams of 8 or more high-caliber engineers.
- Deep expertise in Agile methodologies and the ability to deliver high-quality software under tight deadlines.
- Proven experience with distributed systems and modern cloud infrastructures like AWS or GCP.
- A solid understanding of DevOps practices, cloud design patterns, and modern data architectures.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across product, design, and content teams.
- A technical degree, such as a Bachelor’s or Master’s in a related field.
