About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Manager, Embedded Linux Media Software to join our team on a full-time basis. This is an on-site position based in our Cambridge office. You will be responsible for leading our talented engineering team as they work on everything from bootloaders and device drivers to Chromium and Electron-based applications. We need someone who can balance technical leadership with strong project management to ensure we continue shipping reliable products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of up to 15 developers who specialize in C and C++ to deliver high-definition audio and video experiences.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional groups, including our SaaS, DevOps, and automated QA teams, within an agile framework.
- Manage the software development lifecycle while accounting for the specific demands of hardware integration and manufacturing timelines.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience working as a developer on teams that have successfully shipped commercial embedded software.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a management role, specifically overseeing teams that build and release embedded products.
- Extensive technical proficiency with Linux, including mastery of the command line environment.
- Practical knowledge of Chromium and Electron.
- Proven experience leading teams through agile or scrum methodologies.
- Strong familiarity with git and GitHub for source code management, with bonus points for experience using gerrit.
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or at least 5 years of equivalent industry experience.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards for robust, testable, and clean code.
Location
This role is located in Cambridge, United Kingdom. We require the successful candidate to be in the office at least 4 days per week, though we prefer full-time in-office attendance.
