We are Neara, a rapidly growing, venture-backed Series B company based in Sydney. We are proud to be recognized as one of the Times 100 Most Influential Companies of 2024. Our team is dedicated to transforming how the world designs and maintains critical infrastructure. By providing a 3D digital network model, we help utilities navigate the clean energy transition and future-proof their systems. We currently partner with 75% of the utility providers across Australia and New Zealand, and we are currently scaling our operations throughout the United States and Europe.
What is this role?
We are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a senior-level position that requires a deep understanding of both software engineering and machine learning. You will work in a hybrid environment, collaborating with a talented team to build physics simulation engines and advanced 3D graphical interfaces that scale to millions of assets.
What will you do?
- Design and implement methods to create highly accurate models from imperfect data using a combination of deep learning and classical algorithms.
- Build and optimize training pipelines while developing data structures capable of performing in real-time during user interactions with massive datasets.
- Mentor junior team members and share best practices to foster a culture of innovation and continuous technical growth.
What makes you a great fit?
You should have a strong background that bridges the gap between software development and machine learning. We are looking for someone who is truly passionate about solving complex problems and building industry-leading software. You will need to be proficient in Python and C++, and experience with Java is considered a plus. Because our work involves sophisticated 3D modeling and photogrammetry, you should be an expert in deep learning and comfortable applying new research to unique customer challenges.
What's in it for you?
We believe in supporting our people and providing an environment where your work has a tangible impact. Our perks include:
- A fully flexible hybrid work environment.
- Access to our well-stocked office in Redfern, complete with a great snack collection.
- Regular team events to connect and celebrate our progress.
- The opportunity to work on a genuinely complex and innovative product that makes a real difference in the world.
