Gravis Robotics is a growing startup based in Switzerland that transforms heavy construction equipment into intelligent, autonomous machines. We combine learning-based automation with augmented remote control to allow operators to manage fleets safely, and we are looking for a Senior or Lead Perception Engineer to join our team on-site in Zurich to help us scale our technology across a trillion-dollar industry.
Responsibilities
- Direct the design, prototyping, and deployment of real-time perception and deep learning algorithms, including 3D object detection, semantic segmentation, mapping, and sensor calibration.
- Guide our perception team and manage the agile development process while coordinating with leadership to meet project milestones.
- Develop and refine testing procedures and performance metrics to ensure our systems remain robust in the field.
- Manage the integration of new sensor configurations into our existing perception stack.
- Work alongside multidisciplinary teams to enhance the overall reliability and performance of our autonomous systems.
- Drive hiring efforts to build and grow a highly effective, nimble perception team.
Must-haves
- A Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience developing and implementing robust perception algorithms.
- Strong proficiency in writing production-quality C++ and Python code within a Linux environment.
- Extensive background in deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow using LiDAR or image data.
- Proven leadership experience within a small, collaborative team and the ability to drive cross-disciplinary projects.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage resources effectively.
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience building and maintaining machine learning pipelines, from initial data collection to final model deployment.
- Proficiency with common robotics and perception frameworks, such as OpenCV, ROS, PCL, Open3D, or the Nvidia hardware and software ecosystem.
Benefits
- The opportunity to work in the vibrant city of Zurich.
- A commitment to work-life balance and flexibility, with the ability to discuss your preferred working arrangements during the interview process.
- An inclusive, international work environment where we value diverse perspectives and equal opportunity.
