We are currently seeking a Senior Infrastructure & Virtualization Engineer to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity.

Key outcomes

• Oversee the administration and maintenance of our Hyper-V virtualized test environment, which serves as the backbone for critical energy system infrastructure projects.
• Manage the full lifecycle of virtual machines, operating systems, and network components, including the configuration of physical and virtual routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Proactively monitor system performance to identify potential issues and implement necessary adjustments.
• Execute robust backup and recovery processes while ensuring all infrastructure aligns with strict cybersecurity and patching requirements.
• Maintain security applications such as vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection, and access control systems.
• Develop and refine disaster recovery plans and system hardening measures to ensure high availability and security.
• Provide technical documentation and support for virtualization processes and network configurations.

Requirements

• An MSc degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Extensive hands-on experience in IT or system administration, with mandatory expertise in Windows environments.
• Deep technical knowledge of virtualization technologies, specifically Hyper-V or VMWare ESXi.
• Proven experience in configuring and managing physical and virtual network infrastructure.
• Proficiency in containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong scripting abilities, particularly in Bash and Python, with additional experience in PowerShell for automation.
• A structured, conscientious approach to work and a drive to excel as a technical expert.
• Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working with Linux or macOS environments.
• Practical knowledge of database handling.
• Advanced Python skills specifically applied to security testing automation.
• Proficiency in the German language.
