At the Constructive Dialogue Institute, we help colleges and universities build the skills students, faculty, and leaders need to talk across differences and work together. Co-founded by psychologist Jonathan Haidt, we deliver co-curricular programs, faculty training, and strategic guidance that turn dialogue into lasting institutional change.
About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Impact Researcher on a full-time basis. In this position you will design and run our entire evaluation program, create the measurement systems that support it, and turn results into clear insights for academic, practitioner, funder, and public audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead our impact and efficacy research from start to finish, including pre-post studies, quasi-experimental designs, and randomized controlled trials with university partners.
- Develop, test, and validate assessment tools, then build reproducible analytical workflows that keep every study rigorous and transparent.
- Share findings through reports, presentations, and publications that reach both expert and non-expert readers while staying true to our non-partisan values.
Requirements
To succeed, you will need at least five years of experience directing applied social-science research or program evaluations outside purely academic settings. You should bring strong quantitative skills, including multilevel modeling, mediation and moderation analysis, and experimental or quasi-experimental designs, plus a track record of writing and presenting research for practitioner, funder, or public audiences.
A PhD in psychology, education, or a related quantitative social-science field is preferred, as is experience with mixed-methods work, R programming, reproducible workflows, and collaboration with product or education teams. Familiarity with higher-education or bridge-building contexts and knowledge of implementation science are also valued.
Location
This role is fully remote and open to candidates based anywhere in the United States. You can expect to travel twice a year for team gatherings and roughly once a quarter for conferences or funder events.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $140,000. In addition, we offer unlimited paid time off plus 13 company holidays, a $1,000 annual professional-development budget, up to $500 for home-office equipment, and up to $50 per month for internet or phone costs. Health, dental, and vision insurance, a 3 percent 401k match, short- and long-term disability coverage, life and AD&D insurance, and subsidized parental leave round out our benefits package.
