We are a Montreal-based game development studio on a mission to build alternate worlds that enrich the lives of our players. We believe that online games have the potential to offer experiences that are far more meaningful, deep, and lasting than traditional entertainment. Our goal is to craft a sophisticated virtual universe where players feel a genuine sense of belonging and community. We are currently tackling complex technical challenges to bring this vision to life, and we are looking for passionate individuals to join us in creating something truly unforgettable.
The role
We are seeking a Senior Game Designer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a senior-level position where you will play a pivotal role in defining and implementing the core gameplay systems for an unannounced project built in Unreal Engine 5. You will work in a hybrid capacity, collaborating closely with our executive producer and a cross-functional team to prototype and shape the future of our game from the ground up.
Core responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of fundamental gameplay systems, including progression loops, quest structures, player incentives, and mechanisms for player expression.
- Rapidly prototype and iterate on gameplay ideas within Unreal Engine 5 to validate pacing, loops, and overall feel.
- Partner with directors and project leads to ensure that the design vision remains aligned with our core project goals and player motivations.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- At least one shipped title in a senior design capacity, ideally within the multiplayer space.
- A strong systems-oriented mindset with the ability to create deep, interconnected gameplay mechanics.
- Expertise in Unreal Engine Blueprints, allowing you to build and test content logic, mission flows, and mechanics without needing constant engineering support.
- Technical fluency that allows you to identify when to use Blueprints versus code and how to collaborate with engineers to optimize features.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and provide constructive feedback across disciplines.
- A self-starting attitude that thrives in the early stages of development and enjoys the challenge of building from scratch.
- Fluency in English and French.
Compensation and benefits
The annual base salary for this position is between $93,000 and $104,000. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package to support our full-time team members, including:
- Dental insurance.
- Vision insurance.
- 401k retirement planning.
- Flexible hybrid and remote work options.
