Senior Fullstack Engineer at Rocket.Chat

We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join our R&D team. As a member of our organization, you will report directly to our Senior Engineering Manager while contributing to the world's largest open-source communications platform. Rocket.Chat empowers organizations to maintain full control over their communications, providing secure and private collaboration tools for millions of users across 150 countries, including major entities like the U.S. Navy, Deutsche Bahn, and Credit Suisse. We operate in a truly global environment with team members located in over 26 countries, and we are dedicated to reconnecting the world through every conversation.

Key outcomes

• Design and build high-performance, low-latency, and highly available applications.
• Develop and maintain both RESTful and real-time API endpoints.
• Write efficient, testable, and reusable code while ensuring the security and scalability of new features.
• Create and manage optimized database schemas.
• Take full ownership of features throughout the entire lifecycle, from initial specification to production deployment.
• Collaborate closely with product owners and fellow developers to maintain high standards of code organization and integrity.
• Proactively identify and drive improvements to our software architecture and development practices.
• Manage source code repositories and implement effective branching and merging strategies.

Requirements

• Advanced proficiency in English.
• Extensive experience with Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and design principles for scalable applications.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services such as EC2 and ALB.
• Proven expertise in NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with event stream applications like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience using Grafana and Prometheus for monitoring.
• A proactive mindset focused on taking ownership, fostering trust, and communicating with transparency.

Preferred qualifications

• Prior experience contributing to open-source projects.
• Proficiency in Golang.
