Senior Full Stack Engineer at Rocket Money

At Rocket Money, our mission is to enhance the financial well-being of millions by providing users with clear insights into their personal finances and tools that save them both time and money. We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our EverPresence team, which is responsible for developing the intelligence behind our next-generation financial assistant. You will work within a collaborative environment that prioritizes rapid experimentation and high-quality engineering as we integrate advanced Generative AI into our platform. This full-time, hybrid role is based in the United States.

Key outcomes

• Dedicate roughly half of your time to LLM-focused initiatives, including prompt engineering, refining retrieval-augmented generation strategies, and building frameworks to evaluate the quality and safety of AI outputs.
• Develop and scale robust backend services using TypeScript and Node, utilizing GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and AWS to support our AI-driven features.
• Take full ownership of features from the initial technical design phase through implementation, infrastructure deployment, and ongoing monitoring.
• Partner with our product, design, and data teams to turn complex user needs into intuitive conversational experiences.
• Keep pace with the latest developments in GenAI research and open-source tooling to identify and implement meaningful innovations.
• Foster a culture of excellence by participating in code reviews, contributing to architectural strategy, and mentoring fellow team members.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience, with a primary focus on backend TypeScript, Node, and SQL-based systems.
• Proven hands-on experience working with large language models, whether through production systems, open-source contributions, or personal projects.
• Strong proficiency in data modeling and SQL, with a preference for experience using PostgreSQL and pgvector.
• Familiarity with cloud-based deployment, specifically within AWS.
• A genuine passion for staying current with AI workflows, evaluation tools, and new model releases.
• Strong communication skills and a self-driven approach to solving problems in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluency in English.

Preferred qualifications

• Practical experience with LLM infrastructure tools such as LangFuse or LiteLLM.
• Familiarity with model observability stacks.
• Previous exposure to the fintech industry or experience navigating security and compliance requirements.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $200,000 per year, plus a bonus. In addition to base pay, we provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
