Senior Engineering Manager at Ro

Ro is a direct-to-patient healthcare company dedicated to helping patients reach their health goals through a vertically integrated platform that combines telehealth, diagnostics, and pharmacy services. Since 2017, we have supported millions of patients across the United States, and we are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our team in a hybrid capacity to lead the development of our patient-facing experiences.

Responsibilities

• Guide the technical direction and architecture of high-quality services that power our patient platform.
• Collaborate with product, design, data, and infrastructure leads to define strategy, roadmaps, and feature deployment.
• Lead and support adaptable teams to meet both short-term objectives and long-term business goals.
• Manage and mentor a diverse, engaged engineering team, helping them achieve their professional development milestones.
• Improve engineering best practices and architectural quality in partnership with senior leadership.
• Participate in organizational growth by assisting with team structure, recruiting, and hiring efforts.
• Drive innovation and positive change across all levels of the engineering organization.

Must-haves

• At least 8 years of software engineering experience within product-driven or consumer-facing environments.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in people leadership and management.
• Proven success in delivering robust technical solutions within complex problem spaces.
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience working with microservices.
• Familiarity with React-based frontends.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and technical skills.
• A track record of building strong relationships across cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and fellow engineering leaders.
• Experience providing thoughtful mentorship to senior engineering leads and individual contributors.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience working in a startup environment.
• Background in healthcare-adjacent fields or working within a HIPAA-compliant environment.

Benefits

The target base salary for this role is between $222,000 and $260,000, supplemented by an equity package.
