As a Senior Engineering Manager you will lead one or two engineering teams that keep this mission-critical software reliable and evolving.
Responsibilities
- Lead hiring, retention, performance management, and coaching for your teams while keeping delivery on track.
- Partner daily with an embedded product manager to balance short-term priorities with long-term product health.
- Guide technical decisions that favor sound design, maintainability, and pragmatic trade-offs.
- Champion continuous improvement through CI/CD, automation, code review, and high test coverage.
- Facilitate agile rituals that deliver customer value quickly and gather feedback early.
- Use Jira, Slack, and Zoom to keep communication clear across engineering and the wider organization.
Must-haves
- Several years of experience managing software engineers in more than one setting.
- Hands-on software engineering background with evidence of technical mentorship.
- Proven ability to shape team culture as a player-coach while remaining primarily a people manager.
- Strong communication, empathy, and emotional intelligence; comfortable both leading and supporting others.
- Track record of creating career plans, conducting performance reviews, running interviews, and coaching engineers at varied skill levels.
- Preference for simplicity and pragmatism over over-engineering, with attention to constraints and long-term impact.
- Belief in good design, code review, automation, performance, and high availability.
- English fluency.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with React, TypeScript, .NET, MS SQL Server, Azure, or SCORM.
- Experience with DevOps practices.
- Background in restaurant, food-service, or education domains.
