The role
We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager, Site Reliability to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a hybrid leadership and individual contributor position, often referred to as a player-coach role. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of complex client systems, with an expectation that you remain at least 70 percent billable on client-facing work. Please note that for this specific opening, we are exclusively hiring candidates based in Canada and Latin America who are available to work within the EST time zone.
Core responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and foster the professional growth of a five-person SRE team, setting clear objectives and aligning their career development with our broader organizational strategy.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive site reliability strategy while partnering with our solution architecture team to design and test production systems for high availability during high-traffic sports events.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement by championing automation, managing incident response protocols, and conducting root cause analyses to mitigate future system risks.
Skills and experience
To succeed in this role, you should possess a strong background in large-scale system architecture and team leadership. We require the following qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in site reliability engineering and a minimum of 2 years in a management capacity.
- Deep technical proficiency with AWS, Cloudwatch, and Datadog.
- Advanced hands-on knowledge of infrastructure as code, automation scripting, and cloud orchestration tools.
- Proven ability to manage technology platforms during periods of high traffic and lead teams through on-call rotations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to contribute to high-level strategic planning.
Compensation and benefits
