Senior Engineering Manager, Search & Discovery at PartsTech

The role

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join us on a contractor basis. This is a senior-level leadership position focused on our Search and Discovery product engineering team. You will be responsible for guiding our technical roadmap and leading a global team of engineers to deliver high-impact features that improve how our users find the parts they need. This role is fully remote and open to candidates residing in the Eastern Time Zone of Canada.

Core responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of product engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Partner closely with product managers and designers to define requirements, prioritize the technical roadmap, and ensure our search systems meet business and user needs.
• Drive operational excellence by implementing best practices in software development, including agile methodologies, CI/CD, and robust testing to ensure our search features remain scalable and reliable.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong technical foundation and a proven track record in leadership. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• 8 to 10 years of experience in product engineering leadership, with at least 3 to 5 years specifically in management roles.
• Deep expertise in search technologies, such as Elasticsearch or Solr, and a solid understanding of search relevance and ranking algorithms.
• Proficiency in Java and experience working within AWS cloud environments.
• A strong background in Agile methodologies and the ability to manage the full product development lifecycle.
• Excellent communication skills in English, with experience leading global, distributed teams.
• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Compensation and benefits

The annual salary range for this position is 131,000 USD to 169,000 USD. As part of our team, you will enjoy the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to contribute to our mission from your home base.
