Imagine a team of technologists who believe that thoughtful digital experiences can genuinely improve how governments serve their communities. At Bixal, we partner with public-sector organizations to turn complex missions into clear, accessible online services. Our work blends evidence-based strategy with modern technology, and we are looking for someone who wants their code to make a measurable difference in people’s lives.
The opportunity
We are building a new Drupal practice that will power responsive, decoupled websites for agencies across the country. As our Senior Drupal Engineer, you will shape both the technical foundation and the day-to-day editorial experience of these platforms. Your contributions will directly influence how citizens interact with critical public services, and you will collaborate daily with designers, content strategists, and fellow engineers who share a commitment to continuous learning and craft.
A day in the life
- You might start the morning reviewing a pull request that refines a custom Drupal module, then join a cross-functional stand-up to clarify requirements for an upcoming site redesign.
- After lunch you could architect a decoupled front-end pattern in React, write the accompanying unit tests, and push the changes through our CI/CD pipeline on AWS so stakeholders can preview them in a staging environment.
- Later in the afternoon you might pair with a junior developer on an accessibility audit, ensuring every template meets Section 508 standards before the next release.
Who you are
You bring at least five years of hands-on web development experience and hold a bachelor’s degree. You have built and maintained enterprise-grade, decoupled Drupal 10 sites, creating custom modules and themes while following modern software-engineering practices such as code review, source control with Git, and automated testing. You are fluent in PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and related libraries like React or Angular, and you have deployed and supported these solutions on AWS or similar cloud platforms. Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GraphQL, and Linux environments is second nature. You value clear communication, enjoy mentoring teammates, and are ready to obtain a Public Trust security clearance.
Why you'll love it here
You will work entirely from anywhere in the United States on a full-time basis, with the flexibility to set your own hours and the support of generous paid time off, eleven paid holidays, and full medical, dental, and vision coverage. Our 401(k) includes matching contributions, and we offer a flexible spending account, commuter benefits, company-paid short-term disability and life insurance, plus parental leave. We invest in your growth through professional-development stipends and new-business referral bonuses, all within a collaborative culture that celebrates learning and impact.
