Senior Director, Software Engineering at Seed

What is this role?

We are looking for a Senior Director, Software Engineering to join our team in a full-time, executive-level capacity. This is a remote position available to candidates located anywhere. In this role, you will serve as a key leader, bridging the gap between our high-level scientific mission and our technical execution. You will report directly to executive leadership and play a vital part in shaping the future of our digital platforms.

What will you do?

• Provide high-level technical leadership by guiding architectural decisions, managing resource planning, and ensuring our engineering solutions align with our long-term company goals.
• Mentor and grow a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of transparency, technical excellence, and professional development through regular feedback and goal setting.
• Collaborate closely with our Product, Data Science, Research, and Design departments to prioritize deliverables and drive innovation across our various platforms.

What makes you a great fit?

You are a seasoned leader with over a decade of experience in software engineering, including at least five years in leadership roles. You possess a strong technical background and a passion for using technology to advance scientific discovery. Your toolkit includes:

• Deep proficiency in Python, JavaScript, React, SQL, and AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Extensive experience managing e-commerce platforms, third-party API integrations, and robust CI/CD pipelines.
• A strategic mindset that allows you to balance hands-on technical decision-making with the needs of a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse, cross-functional teams.
• A background in healthtech, biotech, or life sciences is considered a significant advantage.
