Are you ready to shape the future of home improvement by leading engineering at a company that turns a few smartphone photos into fully interactive 3D property models? Hover is redefining how homeowners, contractors, and insurers visualize and measure any property, backed by investors such as Google Ventures and Menlo Ventures and trusted by carriers including Travelers, State Farm, and Nationwide.
What you bring
We are looking for a Senior Director of Engineering to join us full time in a hybrid capacity. In this executive-level role you will guide product engineering for our Construction and Insurance verticals, shape long-term technical strategy, and help build a high-performing, diverse engineering organization. Your three core responsibilities will be setting the vision and roadmap for the Pro Product, driving cross-functional execution with product and design teams, and strengthening engineering culture through hiring, performance management, and process leadership. This position is open to candidates located anywhere, with the expectation that employees within 30 miles of our San Francisco or New York City hubs join the office at least once a week.
Requirements
You bring at least ten years of software-engineering experience, including four or more recent years leading full-stack teams of ten or more engineers, engineering managers, and technical leads at high-growth consumer or B2B companies. You have a deep grasp of product-engineering best practices for consumer-grade mobile and web applications, a track record of defining strategic roadmaps, and the ability to balance business and technical outcomes with cross-functional partners. Exceptional emotional intelligence, proven success in recruiting top engineering talent, and strong project-management skills round out the profile of the colleague we seek. English fluency and an inclusive, collaborative mindset are essential.
What we offer
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $295,000-$336,000 annually. In addition to competitive pay, we provide meaningful equity, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, unlimited flexible vacation, generous paid parental and bonding leave, monthly self-care days, recurring fitness and mindfulness resources, virtual therapy, family-planning assistance, and a learning budget that supports conferences, workshops, certifications, and management training.
How to Apply
If this opportunity excites you, we encourage you to submit your resume in PDF format so we can learn more about how your experience aligns with our mission. We look forward to exploring the possibility of you joining Hover and helping us change the world, one home at a time.
