Are you ready to help shape the future of online communities? At VerticalScope, we operate one of the ten largest community platforms in the United States, connecting over 100 million monthly visitors across more than 1,000 websites. We sit at the intersection of community, content, and commerce, and we are looking for an energetic Senior DevOps Engineer to join our mission-focused team. If you are passionate about enabling users to share expertise and discover knowledge on the subjects they love, we would be thrilled to have you on board.
What you bring
In this full-time senior role, you will work remotely from anywhere in Canada, excluding Quebec, to ensure our platform remains scalable, reliable, and observable. You will report to the Director of Engineering and collaborate closely with a team of five engineers to support high-traffic properties like RedFlagDeals. Your core responsibilities include:
- Designing and maintaining infrastructure that powers our world-class portfolio of web properties.
- Identifying and implementing improvements to our infrastructure, developer tooling, and build systems to enhance stability.
- Collaborating with development teams to manage their infrastructure needs while monitoring and optimizing cloud costs.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with over seven years of experience in DevOps or site reliability engineering, though we are flexible for the right person. You should have a deep understanding of Google Cloud Platform, including GKE, GCE, and CloudSQL. Proficiency in Kubernetes, Terraform, and Nginx is essential, as is experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, and PagerDuty. We value candidates who possess strong knowledge of Linux, networking, and GitOps workflows. You should be comfortable managing access controls and service accounts while maintaining a high standard for security and compliance. Fluency in English is required, and you should be prepared to participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
What we offer
We believe in investing in our people through a comprehensive benefits package that supports both your personal and professional well-being. We offer a collaborative environment where you can thrive in a company that maintains a startup mentality while operating at scale. Your benefits include:
- Remote work flexibility and flexible hours.
- Unlimited vacation policy.
- Full health coverage, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Life insurance, long-term disability, and AD&D coverage.
