At TomTom, we are on a mission to revolutionize how the world moves. Since introducing the first portable navigation device in 2004, we have continued to innovate, and today we are engineering the smartest, most accurate real-time map on the planet. We are a global team of over 3,300 passionate problem-solvers, and we are looking for someone to join us as a Senior Developer Advocate to help us empower the developers who build the applications of tomorrow.
About the Role
This is a full-time, hybrid position based in the Netherlands. As a Senior Developer Advocate, you will act as a strategic driver for our APIs, SDKs, and data products. You will sit within our Product Engineering Organization, working closely with leadership to shape our platform. Your goal is to go beyond traditional engagement by identifying new tooling opportunities and creating experiences that directly address developer needs, helping them unlock the full potential of our technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive engagement strategy to build and nurture a vibrant community through targeted programs, events, and initiatives.
- Serve as a technical ambassador by representing the developer voice at industry conferences and meetups, while using those insights to influence our internal product and engineering roadmaps.
- Create high-quality technical content, including documentation, tutorials, and code samples, and build prototypes like API playgrounds and SDK extensions to simplify the adoption of our platform.
Requirements
We are looking for someone with a strong technical background and a passion for developer experience. You should have:
- Proven experience in Developer Relations, Developer Advocacy, or a similar technical role.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as JavaScript, Python, or Java.
- A solid understanding of RESTful API concepts and integration patterns.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for other developers.
- An analytical mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally across engineering, product, and marketing teams.
Location
This role is based in the Netherlands. We embrace a hybrid work model where you will spend two days a week in the office to collaborate and socialize, while the remaining three days can be worked from home or another location of your choice.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive compensation package alongside a variety of perks designed to support your professional and personal life:
- Flexible working hours and the ability to work from your home country or abroad for a set number of days each year.
- A dedicated home office setup budget and a monthly allowance.
- Extensive professional development opportunities, including a personal learning budget, paid leave for training, and access to e-learning platforms like O’Reilly and LinkedIn Learning.
- Comprehensive time-off policies, including a competitive holiday plan, a day off for your birthday, and enhanced parental and caregiving leave.
- Participation in global company events like our annual Hackathon and DevDays.
