Senior Data Scientist at Constructive Dialogue Institute

The Constructive Dialogue Institute is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to helping the next generation of Americans develop the skills necessary to communicate and collaborate effectively across lines of difference. Co-founded by psychologist Jonathan Haidt, we partner with colleges and universities to provide programming, professional development, and strategic guidance that fosters constructive dialogue. We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to take ownership of the data foundations that drive our research, reporting, and analytics. This is a high-leverage role for someone who enjoys building robust infrastructure and reliable systems that our team and partners rely on every day.

What you'll be doing

• Own our research and analytics infrastructure by managing core data models, schemas, and documentation while ensuring high standards for data quality.
• Build and maintain data pipelines using reproducible ETL and ELT practices to create standardized datasets that support our ongoing analysis.
• Lead the modernization of our reporting layer while co-leading the evaluation of our AI dialogue coach to ensure we can effectively measure learner experiences and outcomes.

What you'll bring

We are looking for someone with at least six years of professional experience in data science, analytics engineering, or data engineering. You should be a strong practitioner who is comfortable working in a remote environment based in the United States and fluent in English. Your background should include the following:

• Strong hands-on proficiency with SQL and Python.
• Experience working within cloud-based environments like AWS.
• A track record of building and maintaining dashboards and BI tools for non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience using Git and implementing testing practices to ensure your work is both maintainable and reproducible.
• The ability to translate ambiguous data problems into clear, actionable deliverables.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams.

What you'll get
