At Juniper, we are dedicated to transforming behavioral health by making care more accessible and available. We are supported by prominent investors like a16z, YCombinator, and Craft as we work to solve one of the most significant challenges in the healthcare industry today. Our software is designed to streamline manual processes for clinicians, allowing them to focus entirely on providing high-quality care to their patients. We are committed to building an inclusive culture and strongly encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every single requirement listed, as we value the unique perspectives that underrepresented individuals bring to our team.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join us in a Full Time capacity. As our very first data scientist, you will play a foundational role in shaping how we use our data. Currently, we manage information for over 90,000 patients, and your primary goal will be to transform this underutilized resource into actionable insights. You will be responsible for structuring our data, driving business decisions, and helping our partner behavioral health clinics grow more efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish yourself as our internal data expert by defining our most critical metrics and ensuring the entire organization is aligned on their meaning.
- Analyze our data to uncover ways to improve insurance interactions and collaborate with other teams to enhance our product based on those findings.
- Foster a data-driven culture by building internal trust in our analytics, creating helpful dashboards for various departments, and developing tools that empower team members to interact with data independently.
Requirements
We are looking for someone who thrives in ambiguous environments and is capable of creating clarity even when data quality is inconsistent. You should have a genuine passion for improving lives through better behavioral health outcomes. Additional requirements include:
- At least 5 years of professional experience spanning data analysis, data science, and data engineering.
- Strong proficiency in SQL with a focus on effective data modeling.
- Experience with a programming language such as Python.
- Familiarity with data visualization platforms like Looker or Sigma, along with the ability to select the right tool for specific needs.
- A collaborative mindset focused on building trust with engineering and operations teams by demonstrating how data can make their daily work easier and more effective.
Location
This role is based in the United States. We prioritize candidates who can work in an on-site capacity, with our primary offices located in New York City and San Francisco.
Compensation and Benefits
We are focused on finding the right person to join our mission and encourage interested candidates to reach out. We offer a collaborative environment where you will have the opportunity to build our data function from the ground up and make a tangible impact on the future of behavioral healthcare.
