Nomic is on a mission to make biology easier to measure through our nELISA platform, the world's highest throughput proteomic technology. We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist and Data Engineer to join our team in Canada and help us scale our impact in drug discovery and disease detection.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and automate robust data pipelines to process raw flow cytometry data into quantitative protein measurements.
- Collaborate closely with our Data Engineering, Software Engineering, and Lab R&D teams to improve our data infrastructure.
- Act as a domain expert for interpreting complex experimental datasets, connecting scientific fundamentals to data anomalies.
- Develop internal-facing tools and algorithms that empower our scientists to visualize and analyze data on-demand.
- Provide guidance on experimental design and troubleshooting to support our ongoing R&D and lab operations.
- Maintain high standards for code quality and communication while building scalable data abstractions.
Must-haves
- Graduate degree in bioengineering or a related quantitative bioscience field, or equivalent industry experience.
- At least 3 years of experience analyzing bioscience data and creating improved processing algorithms.
- At least 2 years of software engineering experience, with a focus on building tools for non-programming users.
- Strong statistical expertise, including Bayesian statistics, sampling methods, and mixed models.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with wet lab scientists in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills in English, as you will work closely with our teams and partners in the USA.
Nice-to-haves
- Deep understanding of life science tools such as immunoassays, DNA nanoarchitecture, fluorescence, and signal processing.
- Hands-on experience optimizing surface chemistry, DNA-based circuits, or antibody-antigen interactions.
Benefits
We offer a collaborative, diverse, and mission-driven work environment where your contributions directly impact the future of disease detection and proteomics. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of biotechnology, utilizing your skills to solve complex, high-impact challenges.
