We are searching for a talented Senior Data Platform Engineer to join our team and help us build a best-in-class data practice. As the global leader in GraphQL innovation, our technology powers major organizations like Netflix, Peloton, and The New York Times, and we are looking for someone to help us scale our data infrastructure to support our next phase of growth.

Responsibilities

Take ownership of critical subsystems and drive the success of key data initiatives.
Lead medium to large-scale projects and mentor team members through the hiring process.
Design robust technical solutions that prioritize cost efficiency, security, and observability.
Produce high-quality documentation, including technical plans and design reviews.
Utilize tools such as BigQuery, Kafka, DBT, and Kubernetes to streamline data access across the company.
Collaborate closely with our data science and engineering teams to turn raw data into actionable strategic insights.

Must-haves

At least 5 years of professional experience in data platform engineering, platform engineering, or a related field.
Deep expertise in systems architecture, specifically within stateless, fault-tolerant, and event-driven distributed systems.
Proven track record of designing and executing large-scale data projects.
Strong proficiency in SQL, GitOps, DBT, BigQuery, Kafka, Postgres, and ELT pipelines.
A proactive, builder-focused mindset that is comfortable challenging conventional wisdom.
Professional fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

Experience with cloud platforms, particularly GCP, though AWS or Azure backgrounds are welcome.
Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and observability tools like DataDog, ArgoCD, CircleCI, and Atlantis.
Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, including Terraform, Helm, and Kubernetes.
Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker.
Experience with tools like Fivetran, Hightouch, and GraphQL.
