About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Data Platform Engineer II to join us on a Full Time basis. In this position, you will serve as a hands-on engineer on a small, high-ownership data team, working across relational, warehouse, and lakehouse systems to build and operate the pipelines that support compliance, analytics, and reporting workloads. The role involves a mix of pipeline development, schema design, infrastructure improvements, and occasional production troubleshooting, along with contributions to the platform’s service layer and mentoring of other engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate data pipelines that support lake ingestion, compliance workloads, and cross-domain data flows while owning monitoring, incident resolution, data quality, and documentation end to end.
- Design and maintain schemas across relational, warehouse, and lakehouse layers, build out the platform’s service layer and infrastructure-as-code, and keep documentation clear so any team member can understand system structure and risks.
- Contribute to evaluations of current platform architecture against emerging tools, track platform health metrics such as pipeline uptime and data freshness, and mentor peers through code review, pairing, and technical guidance.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need 7–9+ years of data engineering or data platform experience with hands-on ownership of production systems. You should have experience building and operating a data lakehouse, data lake, or modern warehouse architecture such as Snowflake or Databricks, along with deep fluency in Apache Airflow or comparable orchestration tools. Strong Python skills for production-grade code, advanced SQL for complex transformations and performance tuning, and hands-on experience with relational schema design in a multi-tenant SaaS context are essential. You will also need experience with Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tools, CI/CD for pipeline or infrastructure deployment, and familiarity with AWS data infrastructure including S3 and IAM. Experience using AI-assisted development tools to accelerate engineering workflows, demonstrated ownership of both inherited and newly built systems, clear written communication, and experience mentoring other engineers are required as well.
Location
This position is fully remote and open to candidates located in CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MI, MN, NC, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, or WI.
Compensation and Benefits
The starting salary range for this role is $175,000 - $195,000. We also offer the opportunity to work remotely as part of our commitment to supporting flexible work arrangements.
