Senior Data Engineer at Cobalt

Our fully remote team of over 45 nationalities helps agile organizations remediate risk quickly and innovate securely, serving more than 1,000 customers worldwide.

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer (AI) who will split time between strengthening our data infrastructure and advancing generative-AI initiatives that improve how we deliver cybersecurity services. In this remote role based in Germany, you will design and operate production-grade data systems while embedding AI and machine-learning capabilities that directly enhance our platform and the work of our customers.

Key outcomes

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines in Google BigQuery that deliver trusted data to finance, marketing, product, and leadership teams.
• Integrate generative AI and large-language-model capabilities into our data environment, automating analytics and improving the speed and precision of our security offerings.
• Manage our data lake and warehouse so they reliably support both day-to-day reporting and emerging AI/ML workloads.
• Implement infrastructure-as-code practices with Terraform and develop Python services that handle data ingestion, event-driven workflows, and MLOps processes.
• Partner with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to translate data requirements into actionable insights that guide product decisions and company strategy.

Requirements

• At least five years of hands-on data-engineering experience, including demonstrable proficiency with Google BigQuery, Looker Studio, and DBT.
• Strong command of Terraform, Python, and SQL for building and operating data infrastructure.
• Practical understanding of machine-learning concepts and generative-AI techniques.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English for effective collaboration in a remote, cross-functional environment.
• Current residency in Germany.

Preferred qualifications

• Direct experience developing or operating generative-AI solutions and MLOps pipelines; familiarity with frameworks such as LangChain is advantageous.
• Active participation in the data community through open-source contributions, publications, or conference speaking.
• Additional programming languages or data-tool experience beyond the core stack.
