We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. At Place Exchange, we are on a mission to transform the out-of-home advertising industry by making it truly programmatic for buyers and sellers. As we build the technology to reshape media in public spaces, we need a driven engineer to help us scale our digital ad exchange, which currently handles billions of transactions. This is a hybrid role that offers the flexibility to work remotely from specific states or from our headquarters in New York City.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of shipping features ranging from small updates to large-scale initiatives while maintaining high standards for documentation, testing, and CI/CD hygiene.
- Collaborate closely with fellow senior engineers to deliver key projects and provide technical leadership across the team.
- Actively mentor other software engineers to enhance our platform, shape our technical strategy, and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should have 4-6 years of full-stack software engineering experience and a proven ability to build maintainable, large-scale systems. We value strong analytical and critical thinking skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively across different teams and locations.
Technical Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Python or comparable server-side languages such as Java or Node.
- Experience with modern web technologies including Django, JavaScript, React, and gRPC.
- Familiarity with data processing and infrastructure tools like Spark, Airflow, AWS Lambda, Kubernetes, and Postgres.
- A solid background in building functional and unit tests, as well as using monitoring tools for performance optimization.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
What we offer
For candidates based in New York City, the expected salary range for this position is $150,000 - $165,000, supplemented by performance-based bonuses and stock options. We are committed to supporting our employees with a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
- Comprehensive health benefits and commuter assistance.
- A 401k plan with company matching.
- Equity compensation.
- Generous paid time off, including sick days and Summer Fridays.
- A flexible hybrid work environment with the option for remote work in eligible states.
