Are you ready to help us transform the construction industry from the ground up? At GROPYUS, we are leveraging industrial offsite manufacturing and fully digitalized processes to create sustainable, affordable, and high-quality residential buildings. We are currently seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our growing Data Platform team and help us build the future of living.

What you bring

In this full-time, hybrid role based in Germany, you will be a key player in developing the Gropyus Data Fabric. You will work alongside a diverse group of experts, including architects, AI researchers, and logistics specialists, to solve complex challenges related to the lifecycle of our buildings. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Designing, building, and maintaining core platform components, such as ingestion frameworks, transformation pipelines, and data storage layers.
Ensuring high data reliability by implementing robust monitoring, alerting, and quality assurance protocols.
Leading strategic initiatives to scale our data ecosystem while mentoring team members to elevate our collective engineering standards.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in building and scaling data-intensive, reactive processing pipelines. You should be proficient in programming with Python or Kotlin and have hands-on experience with databases like Postgres, BigQuery, Spark, and Graph DBs. Familiarity with modern infrastructure tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and Dagster is essential. You should possess strong analytical skills, the ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions, and a proven track record of resolving data inconsistencies. Fluency in English is required, and any background in Data Science, construction-related data, or ontology engineering would be a significant advantage.
