At Overflow, we are on a mission to inspire the world to give. As a growth-stage fintech and SaaS platform, we provide a beautifully designed ecosystem that unlocks new ways for people to donate, including cash, stock, and crypto. We serve high-impact nonprofits, churches, and mission-driven institutions by building the infrastructure that makes generosity frictionless at scale. Backed by major investors like Craft Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, and Uncork Capital, we are looking for a passionate individual to join our team and help us build the future of philanthropic technology.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join us on a full-time basis. You will be our first dedicated engineer in this space, acting as the primary architect to lay the foundation of our data and analytics ecosystem. This is a foundational role where you will take ownership of our data infrastructure, build out our BI and governance layers, and partner with our AI team to organize data for next-generation workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and build our core data infrastructure from the ground up, including pipelines, warehouses, and orchestration tools.
- Design scalable ETL/ELT pipelines that deliver clean, reliable data across our entire platform and business functions.
- Implement robust data governance and quality frameworks, such as Databricks Unity Catalog, to ensure data accuracy and secure access across the organization.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in data engineering and a passion for building systems from scratch. Our ideal candidate brings the following qualifications:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in data engineering, preferably in a fast-paced fintech or SaaS environment.
- Expertise in data modeling, specifically designing efficient OLAP schemas for complex financial metrics and transactions.
- Proficiency with AWS data services and building reliable change data capture pipelines.
- Deep knowledge of both relational SQL databases and NoSQL systems.
- Strong communication skills to bridge the gap between technical data models and the needs of our Finance, Sales, and Engineering teams.
Location
This position is remote and can be performed from anywhere. While we operate with a flexible model, you should be comfortable participating in occasional in-person gatherings or team-specific onsite expectations at our hubs in Los Gatos, CA or Birmingham, AL.
Compensation and Benefits
The base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $200,000, determined by industry benchmarks for this role and function. In addition to your salary, we offer a comprehensive package designed to support your life and well-being:
- Equity compensation.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your dependents.
- 401k retirement plan.
- Generous paid time off.
- Maternity and paternity leave.
- A dedicated mental wellness budget.
- Regular company retreats and opportunities for in-person collaboration.
