At JUMO, we are on a mission to make financial services accessible to everyone through our smart banking platform. Our data engineering team is the backbone of this effort, handling data from millions of users across global sources. We focus on building cloud-based, event-driven analytics and machine learning pipelines that turn raw information into real-world impact. We are looking for someone who is passionate about building scalable architectures to join our remote-first team.
What is this role?
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join us on a full-time basis. This is a senior-level position where you will play a critical role in designing and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our platform. You will work in a remote capacity, collaborating with a global team to solve complex data challenges.
What will you do?
- Design, implement, and maintain robust data pipelines that enable effective data usage across our entire organization.
- Develop mission-critical batch and streaming data processing capabilities to support our intelligent banking services.
- Provide technical leadership by mentoring junior team members and offering constructive feedback to help the team grow.
What makes you a great fit?
To be successful in this role, you should have 5 to 8 years of experience in a similar capacity and a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. We value candidates who can communicate technical concepts clearly and apply critical thinking under pressure. Key requirements include:
- Deep expertise in Big Data technologies, specifically Spark and Kafka.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, along with experience in RDBMS technologies like Redshift or PostgreSQL.
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- A solid understanding of CI/CD practices, Docker, and Kubernetes for managing containerized applications.
- Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools like Airflow.
- Fluency in English and comfort working within a Linux command line environment.
What's in it for you?
Working at JUMO means being part of a team that values impact, autonomy, and continuous learning. We offer a supportive environment where you can take risks and grow alongside senior leaders. Our benefits include:
- Remote work flexibility, allowing you to work from anywhere in South Africa or Portugal.
- Flexible hours to help you manage your schedule and deliver your best work.
- The opportunity to work with a modern, leading-edge technology stack.
- A collaborative culture that encourages diversity, inclusion, and professional development.
