Senior Data Engineer at Modulate

We are currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team and help us build ToxMod. This is our industry-leading voice moderation technology designed to proactively detect and mitigate harassment, toxicity, and harm for hundreds of millions of users. Our platform supports a wide range of communities, from major AAA titles like Call of Duty to expansive VR spaces like Rec Room. Key outcomes

• Refine, optimize, and scale our current data sets to support our growing user base.
• Identify and implement architectural improvements and standards to ensure our data systems remain fast and efficient for high-volume, real-time workflows.
• Partner with our engineering teams to develop creative solutions for complex data challenges.
• Work closely with the Data Analytics team to design effective access patterns for our reporting data.
• Promote engineering best practices across the organization to build a shared, high-quality technical culture.
• Establish the foundational strategies required for the long-term, open-ended scaling of our data infrastructure.

Requirements

• Proficiency in both relational and non-relational databases.
• Proven experience in optimizing data structures and access patterns to ensure high availability, speed, and system resiliency.
• Deep understanding of data flow between systems, including networking, queues, and pipelines.
• Strong programming skills, including proficiency in at least one coding language, object-oriented programming, and established coding best-practice frameworks.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team.
• Fluency in English.

Compensation

The salary for this position is $150,000/yr. We also offer a hybrid work arrangement to provide our team members with a flexible and balanced work experience.
