Our Data Engineering team plays a critical role in this mission by supporting a suite of custom applications and utilizing state of the art technologies that make our scientific breakthroughs possible. We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join us in a hybrid capacity within the United States to help shape the future of our data framework.
Key outcomes
- Oversee and engineer our existing Postgres and MSSQL database environments.
- Serve as the primary technical contact for our manufacturing department, gathering requirements to launch and manage projects across multiple cloud providers, including GCP.
- Execute projects independently, ranging from executive-level ad hoc analysis to the integration of complex data into our reporting systems.
- Establish robust protocols for monitoring, auditing, and alerting to ensure system integrity and rapid issue resolution.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for data metrics, business rules, and API architectures to support our team and executive stakeholders.
- Mentor junior team members to facilitate their technical onboarding and long-term professional growth.
- Develop and execute strategies for proof-of-concept initiatives and the onboarding of new products into our data framework.
- Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to define and implement a comprehensive API strategy.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience, or a PhD with 1 year of experience.
- Proven expertise as a data engineer working within both on-premises and cloud environments, with a specific focus on GCP.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and NoSQL database architectures.
- Hands-on experience implementing large-scale ETL and ELT data transformation best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to design data lake and data warehouse architectures using modern cloud solutions.
- Experience with API creation and management, particularly within the GCP ecosystem.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- A track record of managing multiple concurrent projects and building strong relationships across cross-functional teams.
- Fluency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Professional certifications relevant to data engineering.
- Proficiency in Python and Java.
- Experience working with AWS, Azure, or other cloud service providers.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $141,000 to $207,000. We determine final offers based on internal equity, market analysis, and the candidate's specific experience and location. Our benefits package includes hybrid work arrangements, medical insurance, and paid time off.
