At Unite Us, we are on a mission to unlock the potential of every community. Since 2013, we have been building a national network that connects healthcare providers, government agencies, and community organizations to ensure individuals get the care they need. By streamlining the way social and health services are delivered, we help address the barriers that prevent people from accessing vital support. We are looking for passionate individuals who want to do well while doing good to help us shape the future of whole-person health.
The role
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our technology team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a senior-level position where you will play a critical role in building the data infrastructure that powers our national network. You will be responsible for creating the pipelines and warehouses that allow us to quantify our impact and drive intelligent investment in healthcare opportunities. We have a strong preference for candidates who are comfortable working within the ET or CT time zones.
Core responsibilities
- Design and implement robust data architecture and infrastructure that aligns with our business objectives while collaborating closely with product and application teams.
- Develop and maintain efficient ETL processes and data pipelines, ensuring high performance, reliability, and data integrity through rigorous testing.
- Champion data democratization by making high-quality data accessible to stakeholders across the organization and providing technical leadership on system architecture.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should bring a strong background in data engineering and a passion for building scalable systems. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- 6 to 8 years of professional experience managing data warehouses, data lakes, and complex ETL pipelines.
- Expertise in Snowflake for data warehousing and Kafka for building streaming pipelines.
- Proficiency in orchestrating workflows with Apache Airflow and experience with Spark using Scala and Python.
- Solid understanding of cloud services on AWS, including S3, ECS, and RDS.
- Technical fluency in Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, and DBT.
- Advanced SQL skills, including complex query authoring and performance tuning.
- Previous experience working with healthcare data or social determinants of health is highly valued.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical partners.
Compensation and benefits
The target salary range for this position is $145,000 to $175,000, depending on your specific skills, experience, and location. We support our team members with a comprehensive benefits package, including:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance with coverage for eligible dependents.
- A 401(k) plan with an employer match and immediate vesting.
- Flexible time off, including paid holidays, mental health days, and volunteer time.
- Mental wellness resources, including an employee assistance program and virtual health visits.
- Commuter benefits and tax-advantaged spending accounts.
- Life, disability, and accident insurance.
- A fully equipped home office setup provided by the company.
