Senior Cloud Network Engineer at Allegiant Travel

Allegiant is looking for a Senior Cloud Network Engineer to join our team as a subject matter expert for our cloud and on-premise connectivity. As a national air carrier, we provide essential services and are seeking a dedicated professional to help us manage our network infrastructure while supporting our ongoing migration to the cloud.

Responsibilities

• Lead our cloud migration efforts and support all future cloud-based initiatives.
• Design, implement, and maintain tools to effectively manage both our cloud and on-premise network environments.
• Ensure that all deployments meet our high standards for security, scalability, and availability.
• Collaborate with security and systems teams to troubleshoot critical issues and provide operational support.
• Develop automation capabilities to streamline routine tasks and device deployments.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation, including network diagrams, IPAM records, and policy procedures.
• Support our broader networking team with traditional routing, switching, and wireless infrastructure in our data centers and branch locations.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning, vulnerability management, and regular system patching.
• Stay informed on the latest cloud service offerings and industry best practices.

Must-haves

• At least six years of experience in a related networking field.
• Strong proficiency in AWS cloud networking, including VPCs, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, and Security Groups.
• Expertise in traditional data center and campus networking, including Cisco routers, switches, and wireless systems.
• Solid understanding of BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP routing protocols.
• Experience with load balancing, firewalls, DNS, SIEM, and network monitoring tools.
• AWS Architect Associate certification and Cisco Certified Network Associate (or equivalent).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Nice-to-haves

• Cisco Certified Network Professional certification.
• AWS Advanced Networking certification.
• Experience with Active Directory in both on-premise and cloud environments.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, MIS, or a related field.
