PlayVS stands as the premier amateur esports platform across North America. We provide a unified community where players compete, fans watch, and coaches oversee their programs. Our full-stack platform integrates game data, team-building utilities, leagues, and tournament scheduling into one cohesive experience. We are currently looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team in a full-time, remote capacity. If you are passionate about modern web technologies and enjoy solving complex technical puzzles, we would love to connect with you.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of sophisticated backend systems, including new features and GraphQL APIs.
Partner with product managers and designers to translate product visions into functional, high-performance software.
Maintain a high standard of engineering by writing clean code, performing thorough code reviews, and improving our overall test coverage.

Requirements

At least 5 years of professional experience in product development with a focus on building scalable, high-performance software.
Deep expertise in Node.js and its core principles.
Proficiency in TypeScript for large-scale applications.
Hands-on experience with GraphQL and Apollo frameworks.
Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
A growth mindset that prioritizes experimentation, data-driven decisions, and impactful results.
Bonus points for experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud Platform, as well as containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
