We are Workshop, a rapidly growing, venture-backed startup headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska. Our mission is to make work life better by providing internal communications teams with the tools they need to create, send, and track employee-focused campaigns. We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time, hybrid basis. While we prefer candidates based in Omaha, we are open to remote applicants located within two hours of the CST time zone.

Responsibilities

Collaborate directly with our product and design teams to turn our vision into high-quality, scalable software solutions.
Take full ownership of technical direction for key projects, ensuring you have a meaningful impact on our product strategy rather than just completing tickets.
Mentor junior developers while maintaining the autonomy to ship code to production frequently and reliably.

Requirements

A strong background in object-oriented programming using dynamically typed languages, with a preference for Ruby on Rails.
Proficiency with Node and TypeScript for backend development, along with experience using Vue on the frontend.
Extensive experience working with SQL databases, specifically PostgreSQL, including expertise in schema design and query optimization.
A commitment to web performance and optimization, viewing speed and efficiency as essential product features.
A deep understanding of modern software development methodologies and a passion for delivering excellent user experiences at scale.
