The opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to help us build the internal technology platform that powers both our investment teams and the founders we support. In this full-time hybrid role based in Sydney, you will focus on backend systems while contributing across the stack, working with a small, experienced group that values autonomy and clear accountability. Your work will directly influence how we discover and enable the next generation of founders worldwide.

A day in the life

• Design and ship backend services in Node.js on GCP, turning product ideas into reliable, production-ready features that help our teams and founders operate more effectively.
• Collaborate daily with engineers, product managers, and designers to review architecture choices, refine requirements, and ensure every increment solves a real operational need.
• Iterate quickly by releasing small, well-tested updates, then gather feedback to refine both the code and the underlying business logic behind it.

Who you are

You bring at least five years of experience building scalable products and have commercial expertise developing backend solutions with Node.js. You have designed and secured REST APIs and have hands-on experience with database design in PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server. You enjoy applying technology to genuine business problems, communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical teammates, and thrive in environments that reward initiative and results. Fluency in English is essential. Experience with React and TypeScript, serverless patterns, or an interest in applying AI to business challenges would be valuable additions to your profile.
