What you’ll do

Public is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our 35-person development team located in Carlsbergbyen Copenhagen. In collaboration with the rest of the Copenhagen office, you will develop Public’s cutting-edge trading platform, enabling users to buy and trade stocks and options seamlessly. Public is looking for a candidate with an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial spirit; someone who is willing to learn quickly, take responsibility, and drive initiatives forward. • Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems and APIs using Java Springboot. 
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to implement new features and enhancements. 
• Optimize performance and scalability of our trading platform to ensure a seamless user experience. 
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain code quality and reliability. 
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continually improve our software architecture and development processes. 

Who you are

• BA or MA level in Computer Science, Software Engineering or another relevant field, however experience from a similar role is most important
• Strong proficiency in Java Springboot and hands-on experience with backend development. 
• Experience with Java or .NET is also relevant and can be considered.  
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and problem-solving. 
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced agile environment. 
• Experience with the financial markets or trading platforms is a plus, but not required. 
• Fluent in English.
