Senior Backend Engineer at Replo

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team and take a lead role in shaping the architecture of our most popular products. At Replo, we focus on building high-impact software within the e-commerce space, and we need someone who is ready to dive into complex technical challenges while maintaining a fast pace of delivery. You will work on critical infrastructure, ensuring our systems remain robust, scalable, and efficient for our growing customer base.

Key outcomes

• Architect and implement backend systems using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Design and build ingestion pipelines for our analytics and insights products, focusing on high availability with tools like Kafka, Clickhouse, and Redis.
• Improve our CI/CD processes to enhance overall system stability.
• Develop durable, distributed cart and hosting solutions for our e-commerce platform.
• Deploy multi-tenant applications using Next.js on Cloudflare.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers by sharing best practices and technical guidance.

Requirements

• Ability to work from our San Francisco office 3 to 4 days per week.
• At least 4 years of professional experience working with production-grade distributed systems and service-oriented architecture.
• Deep technical knowledge of load balancers, databases, queuing, caching, HTTP, APIs, and fault-tolerant design.
• Proficiency in TypeScript, or a strong willingness to learn it if your background is in languages like Python, Go, or Java.
• A product-focused mindset and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to define software architecture patterns that solve real customer problems.
• A willingness to contribute to full-stack tasks, including frontend work using React when necessary.
• Fluency in English.

Preferred qualifications

• Previous experience as a founder of a company.
• A history of working at early-stage startups, specifically at the Series A stage or earlier.
• An active interest in participating in hackathons.
• A background in visual design or experience using tools like Figma.
• A preference for practical engineering experience over traditional algorithmic interview preparation.
