What is this role?

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a senior-level position where you will play a key role in building the scalable systems and infrastructure that support our clients and providers. You will work closely with a talented, close-knit group of engineers, product managers, and designers to innovate our services and improve the delivery of mental health care.

What will you do?

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of robust backend systems and APIs using Python and Django.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define architecture and technical requirements while ensuring high performance and security for our data.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote best practices to maintain a high-quality, reliable codebase.

What makes you a great fit?

You have a strong background in backend engineering and a passion for mission-oriented work. To be successful in this role, you should have:

• At least 5 years of experience building scalable backend applications in a production environment.
• Proficiency with Python, Django, gRPC, and GraphQL.
• Experience working with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• A solid understanding of continuous deployment, infrastructure-as-code, and data integration with third-party APIs.
• Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical and operations staff.
• A preference for writing clean, testable code and a desire to leave systems better than you found them.
