The opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Staffing team. This group is the backbone of our operations, managing the system of record for our care services and ensuring we match the right caregivers with the right clients. You will play a pivotal role in modernizing our architecture, building robust APIs, and creating scalable systems that facilitate everything from billing and payment information to visit management. As we continue to grow, you will help guide our long-term technical strategy and partner closely with our data science team to optimize how we deliver care.

A day in the life

• You will design and implement scalable backend services using Python and Thrift to support our complex care scheduling and staffing workflows.
• You will collaborate with cross-functional partners, including product managers and data scientists, to build features that directly improve the experience for our clients and care professionals.
• You will maintain and refactor our existing systems, ensuring high reliability through the use of AWS, MySQL, and observability tools like Datadog.

Who you are

You are a seasoned engineer who thrives in a collaborative, remote-first environment. You bring a strong technical foundation and a passion for building systems that make a real-world impact. You are comfortable communicating your ideas clearly and working across the full stack when necessary.

• You have extensive experience building and maintaining production-grade features in Python.
• You are skilled at designing relational database models and have successfully managed MySQL databases at scale.
• You have a track record of contributing to the design and implementation of large, complex distributed systems.
• You are proficient in English and enjoy mentoring others while working within a diverse team.
• You are comfortable working with modern tools like GitHub and Looker, and you have a solid understanding of cloud services.
