Senior Backend Engineer at Blockworks

As a Senior Backend Engineer you will help shape the systems that power our research platform and media site used by more than one million readers each month.

What you'll be doing

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and high-performance APIs that support millions of daily requests across our research and media products.
• Own database architecture, optimization, and reliability for MySQL and PostgreSQL while implementing caching strategies with Redis to keep systems fast and dependable.
• Lead feature development from initial planning through production release, collaborating with frontend, product, and data teams to deliver seamless integrations and raise the bar on testing, monitoring, and observability.

What you'll bring

You bring at least five years of professional experience building backend systems with TypeScript and Node.js, including a track record of delivering reliable API endpoints that handle over one million requests per day. You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or you have equivalent practical experience, and you are highly skilled at designing and optimizing relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.

You are comfortable implementing performance improvements through caching layers like Redis, and you apply mature practices around automated testing, monitoring, and observability. You are familiar with DevOps workflows and CI/CD pipelines, you collaborate effectively across teams, and you take pride in writing clean, maintainable code. Strong written and spoken English is required for this role.

What you'll get

This full-time position offers a salary range of $190,000 to $210,000 per year. In addition, you will receive:
